    Tesla & Aluminum Dent Repair

Most paintless dent repair shops refuse aluminum and Tesla panels because the metal behaves differently than steel. Dentcraft repairs them — with PDR, in-shop, and without repainting.

Why aluminum is different from steel

Aluminum does not have the same memory as steel. When steel is dented, it tends to want to return toward its original shape; aluminum resists being moved a second time, so reshaping it takes more force and far more precision. Push too hard and the metal cracks the paint or pops a new high spot; push too soft and the dent stays. That is why most PDR shops do not own the training or the heat equipment for aluminum and send those panels to a body shop for a repaint instead.

We work aluminum with a heat-assisted technique that softens the panel's resistance so it can be reshaped from behind without breaking the paint. The same one rule applies as every other PDR repair — the paint must be intact. Don talks through exactly why shops turn these jobs down in a short video on aluminum, Tesla, and Range Rover repairs.

    Tesla and luxury aluminum vehicles

Teslas, Range Rovers, and an increasing number of everyday vehicles use aluminum body panels to save weight. For a high-value vehicle, a body-shop repaint is the wrong answer — it introduces a paint mismatch, shows on the vehicle's history, and lowers resale. PDR keeps the factory finish intact and typically does not appear on a Carfax report, which is exactly why it is the right choice for an aluminum-bodied car.

We repair dents on Teslas and other aluminum vehicles at our McKinney shop, where we can control heat and reach the back of the panel properly. For more on the technical side, read our guide to PDR on aluminum panels.

What we can and can't fix on aluminum

Dentcraft takes aluminum and Tesla work with no exclusions. If the paint is intact, the panel is a candidate — hoods, doors, roofs, quarter panels, and body lines alike. Some panels require dropping a headliner or removing a taillight to reach the back, and that access is part of why this work belongs in a shop rather than in a driveway. We tell you honestly after an in-person inspection whether a specific dent is a clean PDR fix.

Tesla & Aluminum Dent Repair FAQ

Can paintless dent repair fix aluminum panels?

Yes. Aluminum-bodied vehicles, including Teslas, can be repaired with PDR, but the metal behaves differently than steel and needs a more careful, heat-assisted technique. Our technicians are trained specifically for aluminum PDR.

Do you fix dents on Teslas?

Yes. We repair dents on Teslas and other aluminum-bodied vehicles. The same one rule applies — the paint must be intact — and the work is done in-shop where we can control heat and access the back of the panel properly.

Why do so many shops refuse aluminum and Tesla panels?

Aluminum has a different memory than steel and resists being moved a second time, so it takes more force and more precision to reshape without cracking the paint. Many PDR shops do not have the training or the heat equipment for it and send those panels to a body shop for a repaint instead.

    Does aluminum PDR cost more?

It can, because the work is slower and more technical. We give you a free written estimate up front so you know the number before any work starts.

Will repairing an aluminum panel hurt my Tesla's value?

No — it protects it. PDR keeps the factory finish intact and typically does not appear on a Carfax report, which is exactly why it is the right choice for a high-value aluminum vehicle over a repaint.

Can you fix a dent on a Tesla body line?

Yes. A dent on a body line is one of the harder repairs, and on aluminum it is harder still, but we reconstruct the line and the metal around it from behind the panel. We confirm it after an in-person inspection.
