What Dentcraft of Texas Can Fix

Paintless dent repair removes dents and dings without repainting โ€” as long as the paint is intact. Here is exactly which types of damage we can restore at our McKinney shop.

    Damage We Repair

The golden rule of PDR is simple: if the original paint is not cracked, chipped, or flaking, the dent underneath can almost always be massaged back out from behind the panel. Below are the five most common types of damage we fix for McKinney, Allen, Plano, Frisco, Fairview, and Anna drivers.

    Hail Damage

Dozens to hundreds of shallow dents from a single storm. PDR is the insurance-preferred method for hail because it removes every dent while keeping the factory finish intact.

    Door Dings

Small, round dents from another door, a shopping cart, or a stray object in a parking lot. Most door dings come out in under an hour with no repainting.

    Crease Dents

Sharp, linear dents where something struck and dragged across the panel. Creases take specialized technique to release the metal memory and restore the line.

    Body Line Dents

Dents that land directly on a vehicle's character lines and contours. These areas are stiffer and require an expert touch to reconstruct the original shape.

    Multiple Dents

Several dents across one or more panels from a minor accident, vandalism, or accumulated dings. We assess every panel and fix them all in one visit.

The One Rule: The Paint Must Be Intact

Paintless dent repair works by carefully reshaping the metal from behind the panel, so it depends on the original factory paint remaining unbroken. If the paint is merely stretched or creased but still continuous, the dent is almost always repairable. When the paint is cracked, chipped, or has already been filled and repainted, that specific spot usually needs a conventional touch-up โ€” though the surrounding dents can still be handled with PDR.

Size matters less than people assume. A shallow dent the size of a dinner plate can often come out cleanly, while a tiny dent with cracked paint cannot. Depth, location, and paint condition are what determine whether PDR is the right fix โ€” not diameter alone. That is why every estimate starts with a hands-on inspection under our specialized PDR lighting.

When PDR Is Not the Right Fit

A few situations fall outside what paintless dent repair can handle on their own: paint that is cracked or chipped over the dent, metal stretched past its memory, panels with prior body filler, and damage to plastic trim or glass. In those cases we will tell you directly, and where it makes sense we can coordinate a small, targeted paint repair for just the affected spot while keeping the rest of the vehicle on the faster, factory-finish PDR track.
